Feedback – how to word it and give it

Course description

As language teachers, we constantly give feedback to our learners, but we usually think about the ‘what’, and not the ‘how’. In this workshop, we will not only look at what feedback we should give to our learners (or even colleagues or superiors), but also how and when to give it. Given that we often comment on our learners’ soft skills, we sometimes need to reflect on our own soft skills, and what could be a better area to look at than feedback? We will look at feedback that went well, but also at feedback that went wrong, and analyse some case studies to look at what strategies there are to give beneficial feedback. If time, we will also look at your own teaching situation and swap ideas on how to give feedback. This workshop is suitable for language teachers of different languages, but the working language will be English.
