Principles of task design using authentic materials

Course description

There are students and companies who do not want to work with published materials, but want their teachers to use authentic materials in courses. Often, these clients have valid reasons for working with authentic materials, but these materials then need to be turned into teaching materials, which involves writing tasks. In this workshop, we will look at the principles of task design, and work on adapting materials and writing tasks appropriate for language learning. We will also look at the benefits and drawbacks of writing your own materials to accompany authentic materials. We will also look at the appropriacy of authentic materials, and how these can be adapted to different language levels. This workshop is suitable for language teachers of different languages, but the working language will be English.
